Better days and economy in Mexico City allowed for beautiful ornate buildings
this is pretty nice for being a public post office I wish Mexico still the economy to build like this
nice elevator
grand old buildings
we stopped by the oldest hotel in Mexico City
Inside the court yard of the hotel Cortes
We visited the palace of fine arts and saw a Michael Angel exhibit
This is a copy of the Pieta we saw in Rome by Angelo
Inside the palace of fine arts
We asked a man in the street where a good restaurant was and he directed us to Cafe de Taguba
Dennis had chili en nogada. That is a Mexican specialty right now because it has red pomegranate seeds, green cilantro and white walnut sauce on top. It is a chili with meat and the red, green and white Mexican flag colors on top.
inside the restaurant
our patient waitress, they all had this same uniform
This man has a handy occupation. He can ride his bike with the knife sharpener on the back anywhere, especially to the outdoor food markets and be paid for sharpening all the knife there and then drive on to another location.
Always lots of statues in the public squares and streets.
We stopped at a Diego Rivera art museum. This is an enlarged photo of him and his wife Frieda Kahlo that hung on the wall.
Again I love this art work because I keep correlating the things I see here in Mexico with Book of Mormon times. This was not a Diego Rivera but another artist who drew a landscape. I can picture this as a Nephite family home.

This is a large mural. Diego Rivera was very famous for his large murals. It depicts the history of Mexico through time. He is a young chubby boy in the middle holding the hand of a grown women Frieda Kahlo who he married.
Outside the art museum older men were all clustered around playing chess.
Seeing trees grow out of the top of building is not uncommon. This church made me think of the conference with trees on top of it, but not quite.
We could not believe what was going on here in downtown Mexico City. Men in briefs and hats getting the attention of everyone while they protested embezzlement of government money in Vera Cruz. There were also topless women in the streets protesting as well. The men were on the side of the street but the women were in between the lanes of traffic chanting and dancing to music. We saw pictures of this kind of protest in a mining museum when men take off their clothes and get the attention of the government by saying they do not have enough money to buy clothes.
There is also much selling of goods, drinks and food in between the lanes of traffic all over the city and suburbs.
the group downtown, we woke up the sleeping man on the ground
